This recipe makes fajitas that are addictive! And I ought to know - I'grand from Texas! I scaled this to 20 servings for a party and used half the marinade for top circular steak and one-half for craven breasts. I used only 1/ii cup water in this re-scaled recipe, and I also threw in a generous handful of chopped fresh cilantro. Information technology needs the cilantro... that gives it a wonderful kick. I marinated the meat for 24 hours then grilled it nice and dull. It couldn't have been amend! The meat was tender and absolutely perfect.

Made this with chicken tenders and let them marinate over dark. I swapped out the soy sauce for Lea & Perrin'south, doubled the cayenne, added half a teaspoon of cumin, and a few jalapeno slices. I too left out the common salt. I was expecting this to be a little spicier than it was, but the flavor was great. I was worried my mom would think information technology was besides spicy, but surprisingly not (my dad and blood brother liked information technology, too, and then the heat level must have been just right to please everybody). If I were making this recipe for myself, I'd probably add even more than cayenne, but and so, I am pretty crazy. The just complaint I have (and not plenty to bump it down to 4 stars) is that prep time for me was a lot longer than 15 minutes. I guess if you start with your limes already squeezed (or juice from a bottle) and your chicken already cut upwardly and stuff, it might take 15 minutes, only if you have to take those into account, it'll probably take a little longer. Or I could just be dull, since it took me around an hour. ;) I'll accept to do this with steak next time. I made two pounds of chicken, and usually when we have fajitas, at that place'south chicken left over the next day. Non this time! Too bad, because I was looking forward to quesadillas for lunch tomorrow. Oh well!
08/03/2007
Perfectly wonderful marinade! I take never used the liquid smoke and it'southward still great. I've changed the h2o to other things...beer, vino, veggie broth...all work well. Also, lemon subs very nicely for lime in a compression.
09/03/2010
Neat fajita marinade for chicken! I omitted the water and added 1/four tsp. of cumin. I poked the chicken with a fork serveal times, put everything into a ziploc pocketbook and allow it marinate overnight, turning it serveral times during the marinating process. Information technology was so good grilled over charcoal! Nosotros served it on warm tortillas with all the fixen'due south: peppers, onions, shredded cheese, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.
09/25/2006
This is good, but I think also much h2o is called for. If I fabricated information technology again, I would probably omit the water altogether. It literally watered down the season. I had to add extra lime, garlic, and pepper. Then, it was good. But 3 stars for the recipe every bit-is. I made chicken fajitas with green and red bell pepper, and ruby-red onions in whole-grain toritllas, and heirloom tomatoes, sharp cheddar, lite sour cream and sliced avocado on superlative.

THIS WAS GREAT!!! My husband wanted to have a "Fajita BBQ" then nosotros invited the whole family (both sides) over and tried this recipe with 7 lbs. of fajita meat!!! I take to say I Detest trying new recipes when we have parties merely I bit the bullet on this one and it turned out WONDERFUL! We got then many rave reviews and my husband has been begging me every weekend to make more than fajitas. The just addition I made in the recipe is I added ane/2 c. chopped fresh cilantro cause I love the flavor of it and marinated overnight. They turned out crawly!! I thought for sure I would exist left with a ton of leftover meat, because I always over estimate, simply nosotros had a small handful left, which my husband nibbled on later the guests all left. I will definately be using this recipe once more, my husband wants to laminate the recipe!!! KUDOS ROBBIE!!
03/04/2005
This was WONDERFUL!!! I did brand a few piece of cake changes I increased the soy sauce to iv tsp. and left out the salt. I besides added one/2 tsp chili powder and used most ane and 1/ii tsp cayenne. Information technology was quite spicy and VERY flavorful!!!
01/08/2006
I actually was and so excited for this because I love steak fajitas so so much, but have never actually made them myself. I constitute this actually limey, and not really that spicy. I will admit I didn't use as much liquid smoke as it called for, because I take never used it and it smelled really strong. Maybe that would accept taken abroad some of the lime taste considering it needed something more. Thanks for the recipe anyway. Perchance I will attempt it again exactly as written and run into if I like information technology better.
09/03/2009
This is a GREAT marinade! I used it with chicken. The beginning time I made it as written and the family loved it. The next fourth dimension I tweaked it a chip to my family's preferences and added 2 T more than of lime, a handful of fresh chopped cilantro, and 1 ane/2 t of cumin. I added carmine and xanthous peppers and an onion to the marinade and let it sit down for 12 hours. My oral cavity is watering while I type this. Information technology is now a family unit fave and volition exist in the weekly rotation. Thanks, Robbie! *Notation*: The last time I made this recipe I was in a hurry and threw everything together in a matter of minutes. I didn't have Liquid Smoke, so I used Tabasco Brand Chipolte sauce for the smoky flavor. I didn't really take time to accurately measure the ingredients, and poured directly from the bottle into the marinade. I was a piddling nervous about how information technology was going to turn out. I marinaded the chicken and held out a piffling marinade to use for the onions and blood-red, orangish, and yellow peppers. It turned out to exist fantastic! I don't think you lot tin can go wrong with this marinade!
05/11/2009
My family loved this recipe and i have already being asked when volition i be doing it again.. I added 1/two cup of cilantro and a sprinkle of cumin for a more than accurate kick. I fried the chicken and added light-green bell peppers and opions towards the end. I placed all the ingrediants into a tortilla wrap with avacado, grated cheese and sour cream.. Information technology was oral cavity watering delight. Proficient task.
01/23/2013
Left out the liquid smoke and the cayenne. With these omissions, 5 stars. Light, flavorful, but not overpowering.
06/20/2001
This was fabulous with craven.
11/27/2010
Excellent!
05/01/2007
I never made Fajitas before then I looked at several unlike marinade recipes. This one had the ingredients I was thinking nigh using. The just thing I did differently was to utilise Taquila instead of water and added 1 TBS. stale oregano and 1/4 tsp. dried thyme. This was soooo good. My hubby, who likes to "tweak" every recipe, said he wouldn't change a affair. I used this on flank steak but am going to attempt craven and shrimp next time. Great Recipe.
03/19/2008
ohhh male child! this marinade was absolutely succulent. definitely add together the cumin, coriander, and cilantro and use a whole teaspoon of cayenne. i only used 1 lime b/c i didnt want mine to turn out as well tangy. i used a cheap piece of top round steak meat and the marinade made the meat taste meliorate than NY strip. save the marinade and use information technology when you sautee bell peppers and onions for your fajita topping. EDIT: only desire to add together that i take used this marinade at least 10x with USDA choice elevation round steak that i purchase from costco. everybody comments on how corking it smells whenever i bring it to work for lunch. i cant get plenty of this marinade
07/31/2011
My review might not be off-white since I did make a change. I had no liquid fume so I change it to 2 tbsp. of Chipotle sauce. I marinaded steak slices for 30 hours and information technology came out with very fiddling season. In the end I had to add a pkg of fajita seasoning. The steak was extemely tender. Maybe chicken would be better. I don't retrieve I will brand over again though.
07/07/2011
This is wonderful as written. I halved the recipe because in that location were simply ii of united states for dinner. I cut a bottom circular steak into sparse strips and marinated them for about 24 hours, turning them several times. I so sauteed the beef in a minor corporeality of olive oil and served it over chocolate-brown rice with grilled vegetable kabobs (yellow and green peppers, onion wedges, and mushrooms - see recipe, this site) and orange slices. The normally tough cut of beef was tender and succulent. My adult son kept commenting on how good the meat tasted and asked that I make it for him again. I volition definitely use it again, trying dissimilar cuts of meat & chicken, and don't programme to brand any changes.
07/05/2009
I've been using this recipe for over a yr, it'south THE Best. I increase the cayenne to i tsp and add together 1/2 tsp cumin & coriander, and some jalapeno juice. I marinate the meat eight-x hours. I melt it in a hot skillet, the juice that comes out of the meat will cook down and I add sliced onions just when the juice is almost cooked out, it coats the onions and makes them so yummy!!!! I sprinkle black pepper on it while it'due south cooking, information technology will not disappoint. I always do a pan of sliced summit sirloin steak and a pan of chicken, nosotros love both.
08/10/2011
Wow...what a great, fresh-tasting marinade for both meat and vegetables! Information technology is a thou times better than store-bought fajita marinades, particularly the dry-powder varieties. I like to add together a piddling more liquid smoke, and cilantro is a must for an extra fleck of flavor.
07/24/2001
I tried this recipe both the original style written and with the water omitted as suggested in other reviews: Don't mess with this recipe! Equally written, this is a terrific marinade for fajitas! Increasing the lime juice or reducing the water only drowns out the smokey back-taste that makes this a winner. Just brand those ii dashes of fume heavy-handed dashes. I've made fajitas using this recipe for flank steak and sliced peppers and onions with wonderful results. This is a keeper.
04/20/2011
I used this as a cooking sauce for 2 pork tenderloins in the crock pot. It was succulent.
08/10/2010
Don't let the negative reviews fool you. This recipe is crawly, especially when using it as a marinade for fajitas! Serve sauteed pepper strips and sliced onions along with it, and you've got some of the most crawly fajitas you'll ever accept! No demand to marinate overnight either. Marinating for 30 minutes to an hour is expert enough for very flavorful fajitas!
05/xiii/2011
This marinade is pretty good. I didn't add the h2o as others mentioned. The only changes I made were using cider vinegar in place of the h2o, non using liquid fume, and calculation some cumin and coriander(one/2 tsp of each). We used it on chicken breasts and grilled them. Afterward we just sliced them up- very tender! I usually freeze our meat in the marinades so the twenty-four hour period we melt, all we have to exercise i thaw the meat. After the ckicken was thawed it marinated for about six hours in the fridge. I also sauteed bell pepper and onion using the juices from the marinade- to decrease the amount of oil needed(it's okay to use the marinade the chicken was in since it was heated to humid temp for a while). I kept the lid on for a while, allowing the steam to help cook the veggies. I took it off towards the terminate to allow them to brownish a bit.
08/16/2011
I'll requite this four 1/2 stars, information technology would be fifty-fifty better had I grilled the meat. =) This marinade is awesome! I was skeptical at get-go since it didn't even smell like anything (followed the recipe as written) but had some hope since information technology had rave reviews. I did half craven and half steak (sliced trip tip) and let it marinade for a few hours. I just cooked information technology in a hot pan (wish I had grilled it) and cooked upward pepper & onions to go with. It was SOOO good! This volition be my go-to recipe for now on.
07/04/2011
Awesome. These were the best fajitas I've e'er had. Did add together 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp coriander to the marinade and didn't have soy sauce at the time so substituted Worcestershire - I've made it over and over once more always with crawly results.
01/23/2002
We usually use Fabulosa's Marinade, simply I didn't accept any on mitt so I tried this and was very pleased with it. All of the ingredients are things people usually take on paw - I didn't take whatsoever fresh limes or even regular bottled lime juice, and so I used fundamental lime juice and it was notwithstanding skillful. I liked the fact that it didn't exit our meat as "mushy" as bottled marinades can sometimes practise. The cayenne and black pepper are just the right amounts to requite it a kick without existence overpowering. I used the recipe with a pound of beef. Very good and from now on we'll have this for a cost of pennies rather than paying $ii.50 for bottled stuff. Thanks for submitting the recipe.
06/18/2012
My sis prepared these fajitas Saturday for her son's graduation dinner and they were delicious! She left out the fume seasoning and added cumin. She also increased the garlic. Yum!
03/04/2003
Wow! This is cracking! Just enough kick to surprise your tastebuds. I marinated craven breasts in this (a few hours) and and then grilled them on my indoor grill....Everyone loved them. Thanks!
05/17/2011
Fabulous! I subbed apple tree juice for the water to give a bit of sweetness, and cut back on the cayenne so the kids would eat it. I halved the olive oil every bit others suggested, and added cumin and some Kirkland brand (Costco) Sweetness Mesquite seasoning. They were the best we've ever had by far!
03/fifteen/2011
I idea this marinade was great. Not overpowering equally I thought it might be with the liquid smoke. Made as exactly as stated with superlative sirloin. Very delicious. This recipe is a keeper. Thank you.
12/24/2008
This was great! I added a trivial less cayenne simply otherwise didn't change a thing. I cooked up the chicken with green and carmine peppers, and onions. An easy, succulent meal!
12/08/2008
Thanks for this wonderful marinade recipe! I used black pepper and crushed red pepper spice since I didn't have cayenne pepper. Dainty tender steak with a little boot! I besides don't use liquid smoke since it may not be good for the torso. On the toasted tortilla I put on near a tablespoon of sour foam, and so the steak, the sauteed onions and peppers, some salsa and a piffling bit of shredded cheddar cheese. You can even add together spinach if you like to, y'all'll hardly know it is there! Thank you, thank you! We are beef farmers and I never knew what to do with all the sirloin steaks we become. At present they'll get used up first instead of last!
07/06/2007
I used this recipe at our firehouse and it was a HUGE hit. Anybody wanted the recipe from me, and in that location wasn't a single bit of leftover. A corking bonus is that it is all fabricated inside a throw-away container (gallon resealable numberless) and you but toss the veggies, meat and marinade together! Super easy and great flavour! We will definitely be using this recipe again and again.
12/05/2011
Easy and proficient, beats all the premixed bottles of marinade I've purchased in the past, thanks!
11/14/2011
Have used this several times...always on short notice then no fourth dimension to marinade. I just throw everything with the chicken once it is no longer pink and it nevertheless turns out nifty!
06/nineteen/2011
Delicious, and swell for camping! I cooked the craven and put onions, dark-green pepper and scarlet pepper in the marinade with it overnight. I put the sealed ziplock bag into the cooler, and nosotros took information technology out at the campsite and cooked it in tinfoil. Awesome meal with hardly any dishes! The first time I fabricated information technology was a little spicy for me. The 2nd fourth dimension I left out the cayenne pepper, and added some chili pulverization and cumin. Great either way!! Volition try adding some Tequila next time!
07/01/2003
I made Fajitas final week for my Mothers birthday "Mexican Fiasco" (we call information technology that because it is a fiasco when the whole family gets together..ha!) She absolutely LOVED this. I used 3# chicken and 3# of steak (round steak & believe information technology or non it came out tender) and at that place was only a piddling of each left over, which my Mom took habitation. Cheers for the easy & keen marinade Roberta!!
09/09/2012
We make this recipe all the time - makes the best fajitas e'er!!! Nosotros don't add together the liquid fume flavoring and it takes swell.
12/03/2010
Very skillful! two hrs was perfect time for chicken, but my steak would accept been meliorate if marinated overnight. Volition definitely use again!
05/06/2011
this was actually piece of cake and smelled good, but some of the flavor was lost by the time it cooked. my husband would take preferred it to be more than spicy and he mentioned he wouldn't have used olive oil.
12/10/2011
Used on tofu and information technology was delicious :)
01/15/2002
I used sliced turkey thigh meat in this recipe, the just change I fabricated was adding 1/ii tsp additional mesquite flavored liquid smoke, they were terrific! My husband (an Aussie) repeatedly asks for these when we have company, to bear witness off my American cooking skills! :)
eleven/15/2011
I thought this was peachy! I take tried other fajita marinades and plant them bland, but I liked the seize with teeth of lime, the liquid smoke and the garlic of this ane. I fabricated steak fajitas from top sirloin and marinaded them for a few hours and information technology came out tender and flavorful. I did add together some chili powder and more than cayenne to the skillet but that was it. I will use definitely apply this again!
07/03/2012
Being from Texas, I've tasted all sorts of fajitas from the bland, the peppered, and the citrus. This falls in the citrus category so proceed that in mind if you lot don't like that sort of gustation. I made these exactly equally written and marinated a beef skirt cut of meat (ane-i/2 lbs) for effectually 5-6 hours. While flavored well, the meat was kind of tough then I would marinade information technology more next fourth dimension (possibly overnight). Keep in listen, a beef skirt cut is thin and is what a bulk of the southwestern fajitas are made of. Since my family likes the citrus marinades, I will up the quantity of lime next time and scale down the liquid smoke flavoring. We constitute the smoke flavoring to be a little overpowering. This is a good "base of operations" recipe for many cuts of meat which I will try afterward.
09/02/2011
I fabricated a diversity of kabobs for my husband's fantasy football game typhoon party. He is a fajita enthusiast so I created fajita kabobs only for him. I marinated the steak, chicken, peppers, and onions (in separate gallon- and quart-sized bags) overnight. The season was wonderful, exactly what my hubby loves. He and his friends could not get enough and kept thanking me for the delicious food.
06/01/2009
It might have helped if I could have grilled the meat simply rain prevented grilling, so I broiled it in the oven. I like my fajitas a little spicier besides. I marinated the meat for a full 24 hours but it was only not as flavorful as I had hoped. It was a practiced home made fajita but I been searching for that restuarant quality recipe.
05/14/2012
Keen marinade. "Fajita Night" will exist more common at my house from now on.
03/04/2012
My unabridged family LOVES this, lots of flavor but not real spicy. I substituted the lime juice for lemon juice because that is what I had on hand. I made a double batch and used half equally a marinade, and I simmered my steak, bell peppers and onions in the other half.
07/04/2011
This was an excellent marinade. I volition be making this again!
05/08/2002
I used this recipe the other night for some fajitas. I have never fabricated fagitas at home, always eaten then out. The whole thing turned out wonderul-nosotros idea at that place was more lime juice then needed though, the lime kind of was overpowering. We will arrive once again for sure, but I volition be adding less lime juice. Thank y'all for sharing.
03/29/2009
Fantastic!! I've made this once a week for the past month. I utilize boneless, skinless craven and apartment atomic number 26 steak. I also add a tsp. of cumin for that south of the border taste! Great recipe!! kids beloved it!
12/08/2014
Personally I would rather cook myself than get out to eat , with a marinade and recipies similar this , I know my food will gustation better and cheaper than going out. I have tried this 2 times , start as written then tweaked information technology a chip tonite, added a agglomeration of chopped cilantro and extra garlic and some orangish juice to the marinade, it was common cold here tonite I n e tn, yes I grill past flashlight when I have to, the smell of the veggies I grilled first( marinated red , green bell peppers with onions in with the meat) was incredible, and so information technology threw on the strip steaks, this recipie is friggin great
08/11/2007
This was decent - but not wonderful. I felt that the h2o may have diluted the marinade also much. The meat didn't really accept a lot of flavor - even after marinating overnight. I retrieve in that location are some good things well-nigh this recipe - but it definitely needs some tweaking. I am going to try substituting tequila for the h2o and calculation some fresh chopped cilantro and brownish sugar. Possibly some cumin, too.
09/18/2000
The adjacent time I brand this, I volition definitely eliminate the ingredient "water". This totally took all the flavor abroad from the marinade, watering it down. I would also increase the amount of spices I add, to make it more than flavorful.
08/18/2008
These fajitas are crawly! I used Chicken Breast tenders so that everything would melt pretty evenly and apace. The showtime small batch I cooked had only marinated for nearly 2.five hours and they were great. The residual I cooked the adjacent day and they were wonderful as well. Great flavor. I fabricated the following changes: Cut the water to ane/4 cup added 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/4 C chopped fresh cilantro, one tsp Worcestershire sauce, one/2 tsp chili powder. I upped the soy sauce to 4 tsp. I had no cayenne pepper on hand so instead used 1/2 tsp hot sauce. I'm not fond of anything too spicy and this turned out fine. If you like things spicy you lot'd demand to up the cayenne. Next time I make it I might upwards the salt just a tad, when eaten lonely the chicken lacks a trivial common salt. However, I grilled all this in just a fry pan with olive oil and after I finished the chicken I threw in the onions and bell pepper with a tad more than olive oil. I likewise had prepare aside about 2 oz. of the marinade and used it when grilling the onions/bell peppers and they were fantastic. I'm sure I will make this often.
01/12/2009
very skillful! liked it a lot!
04/12/2009
Really good. I thought it could have been spicier, but my kids idea it was perfect. I still gave it five stars because I call back spice is a thing of preference. I loved the combination of flavors this doesn't fifty-fifty compare to pre-packaged mixes.
07/25/2011
I made this last with chicken tenderloins marinaded the peppers and onions with the aforementioned recipe information technology was great wouldn't change a thng i also warmed the tortilla shells on the grill as well fantabulous recpe to make for a really hot twenty-four hour period
04/15/2011
Love the flavor. Just desire to share how I utilize this recipe. I include my vegetables (green & ruddy peppers and onions) in the marinade. I so take and melt the whole marinated batch in peanut oil with a wok on a turkey cooker. Only till the water has boiled off and the mixture is cooked through. From in that location, I take the mixture and, on high oestrus with olive oil, melt it on the stovetop until the chicken is golden brown and the vegetables have that overnice burnt edges await to them. Sort of simulates the sizzling platter yous see in resturants. Very succulent and well received by everybody I accept shared them with. Little more than time for sure, simply I make big batches and freeze most of it (after the wok) for later dates!
08/06/2011
This was crawly. I made no changes and used it to brand craven fajitas. Thanks!
10/24/2008
I made a couple changes to this recipe- 1) I used 50% lemon juice and 50% lime juice. 2) I eliminated the liquid smoke flavoring. 3) I only used 1/4 cup water. I marinaded my steak overnight in it. Next time I would probably add a little less citrus juice, I found it to be a little much. But overall, the meat had good flavor. Update: I tried the recipe again, using all the listed ingredients, except cayenne pepper and liquid smoke flavoring. Marinated chicken breasts and a very thin steak. Grilled the meats after about 3 hrs. Chicken was slap-up! Next time volition use a thicker steak. Update- 3/30/11- I used this recipe on chicken breasts (left out the liquid smoke flavoring), I marinated them overnight and then cooked them on my indoor grill and they were succulent!!!
01/10/2011
This is a perfect marinade for chicken and steak. I used information technology to have steak and chicken camping ground for fajitas and we loved information technology. The only ane I e'er use at present.
05/08/2011
This is a skillful marinade as written, but I took a few of the suggestions from prior reviewers and added a few of my own tweeks. Showtime, I noticed that a few reviewers thought that the h2o took away from the flavor of the marinade. Basically 'watering' it downward. So I added i/3 cup of orange popular! I know...what the...? Well, I didn't experience similar going to the shop to observe something else more appropriate, like orange juice or the similar. I happened to have a bottle of orangish pop, so I just added some of that in place of the h2o. The only other adjustments I made was to add together a bit of cumin, I used vegetable oil instead of olive oil and just a couple dashes of liquid smoke instead of 1/two teaspoon. Liquid smoke is very potent, and I noticed that a lot of people found that even 1/2 tsp was overpowering. Everything else in the recipe I followed exactly. I marinated 2 flank steaks for about 4 hours, and my fajita'due south came out PERFECT. Thank yous for the recipe, as I needed a good starting point, and I recall this recipe is it!
04/12/2008
Had to edit my original review, and changed it to 5 stars. Bully equally is, just didn't apply liquid smoke. Mexican friends of mine said information technology tasted like home, except they would utilise something called Maggi seasoning (a liquid) instead of the liquid smoke. To make fajitas: 1. We used rump steak and let marinade for almost of the twenty-four hours (vi-8 hours) two. heat a apartment BBQ plate to stir-fry heat. Yous really need a hot BBQ to get the all-time results 3. First cooking peppers & onions with a fiddling oil until one-half-cooked iv. Squeeze meat well to get rid of actress marinade. Add to vegies on the BBQ and stir fry until done. 5. DEVOUR! Had both flour and corn tortillas, pico de gallo and chuncky guacomole to serve. Fantastico!
11/09/2010
Used this on chicken, and information technology was a bright, tangy, delicious marinade. Aside from the cilantro, I had every ingredient in my pantry, so it was easy to throw together. The chicken was best served immediately after cooking.
04/xvi/2011
I have made this a couple of times and I think information technology is great. I won't be buying the fajita mixes anymore. Yesterday when I made this, I added ane/2 t cumin and ane/4 t tumeric.
03/21/2008
This is a prissy, uncomplicated marinade. I used it with flank steak that I grilled after marinating, but this would be great with chicken or pork as well. A keeper!
09/fifteen/2014
I take used this five or 6 times now and it is crawly for chicken and beef fajitas. I didn't add together the water ,like several advise, and at present almost double the cayenne for a little more than zip. Great recipe
05/26/2011
I used this recipe to marinate fish and it was astonishing. Cheers for the great recipe
01/02/2012
fantastic!! I marinaded boston steaks for this recipe and thinly sliced the meat while information technology was notwithstanding frozen. This will arrive into the regular rotation. I besides cut way dorsum on the liquid smoke to make information technology toddler friendly
12/thirty/2011
delicious! Hubby and I loved this.
12/24/2009
This marinade was so good. Great with chicken and steak! I as well cooked the vegetables in the marinade.... fantastic!
01/02/2011
Had pork tenderloin in the refrigerator and so I tried the marinade on it; came out nicely.
06/26/2001
My husband won't stop asking me to brand craven with this marinade! I hope he gets sick of eating information technology - simply and then once more I don't!
10/06/2011
I would use a fiddling less lime juice and add some other spices (cumin & coriander come to mind). I didn't cayenne, and then I subbed a hot chili powder. I marinated craven for 2 hours and cooked information technology in a hot skillet (but this would be mode better grilled!). I like the addition of the liquid smoke to become the "bbq" flavour, merely nothing beats bodily "char".
05/21/2009
I made this for my Cinco de Mayo party and it was a big hit. The only change I made was substituting a good tequila (100% agave) for the water. It was gone in the blink of an heart.
12/23/2005
I fabricated this for my son's 16th birthday party and used for steak quesadillas and chicken fajitas. Both were very good merely the quesadillas were the kickoff to get, the child's loved them!! I took the suggest of others and substituted worcestershire sauce for the soy sauce. Thank'due south for a dandy marinade!
01/30/2009
This was very good. I substituted the soy sauce with Bragg'southward Liquid Aminos (bachelor in health nutrient stores)to cut some sodium.
08/26/2002
This was very adept. I added some cumin to give information technology a little more than season and more liquid fume than what is called for.
07/11/2011
Excellent! I had to use worcestershire because I was out of soy sauce and information technology still turned out bully. (Also, It was enough to marinate iii lbs of chicken.)
03/28/2011
This was soooo good. I used it to marinate flank steak and actually ended up leaving it for well-nigh 32 hours since something happened and we weren't able to cook it the starting time night as planned. I was worried the meat would exist mushy or the season too strong, but it turned out perfectly. My married man kept raving about what a good meal it was. I'll definitely be making this again. Cheers!

I highly recommend this recipe. I fabricated a couple of changes and idea it was perfect. I substituded cumin for the blackness pepper and left out the h2o. I deboned a store bought rotiserie craven (probably about one pound of meat) and marinated it 24 hours. I wasnt sure how it would be with precooked craven just it made fantastic fajitas.

I didn't take liquid smoke so I omitted it. I too omitted the garlic and added a Tbsp. of Chili Garlic Sauce, 1tsp of cumin, 1tsp. smoked paprika. I marinated steak and chicken all day so grilled information technology for approximately 30 min. over low oestrus. Delish!

Based on the recommendations of other reviewers, I take adapted the recipe and really savour it now. My married man and I enjoy foods with a bit of "kick". I have reduced the corporeality of water, added jalepeno peppers, cilantro, cumin, chili powder and cayenne pepper. I do non use the smoke flavouring.

The oil:water:lime juice ratio is spot-on, and the liquid smoke is a really key ingredient for the eating house fajitas I am trying to replicate. There arn't any spicy/pepper/herb/seasoning notes though, which nosotros did miss even with the garlic and fume flavor: it seemed to be lacking something. Whether you lot go for spicy or not I retrieve an improver or 2 of flavor is needed to really make the meal memorable. Thanks very much for sharing.

Followed recipe as written and plant these were just bland to me. I should've doubled the recipe as I didn't recollect it was almost plenty for a one.5lb Flank steak allow alone 3lbs. So I made it twice & put each Flank Steak into it's own Naught lock forth with the marinade. Everyone liked them & ate more than a few helpings only said these were skilful just lacking something. Didn't gustatory modality annihilation like restaurant Fajitas, merely were merely ok. Give thanks y'all for the recipe. May try it again with a few changes.

This is the all-time marinade I've e'er had. My married man and I use it on chicken breasts and steak. With the steak we add a little chip of white vino vinegar and cilantro and with the chicken we add cilantro and extra lime juice. The chicken comes out juicy and moist every single time. We use if for everything equally a marinade and not merely fajitas! A +!

Tasted more often than not like Liquid Smoke. I think if I were to endeavor this again, I would only leave the Liquid Smoke totally out of the entire thing. If I want a smokey flavor, I'll just put my fajita meat on the grill.

I did this with chicken this night, information technology only soaked for 1 ane/ii hours, 1/2 of that was out of the fridge and it was perfect and moist and yummy. Oh, and I used lemon juice and information technology was nevertheless fabulous.

I made this with steak last dark and it was amazing. It was the first time I've ever made fajitas at home. I reduced the corporeality of water slightly, and only put in 1/ii teaspoon salt, but otherwise followed the recipe. Very good, will be making this over again.
